About Resilient Life Therapy

About Jess

Jess is the founder and primary clinician of Resilient Life Therapy. She attended Adler Graduate School in Minneapolis, MN and received her Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is certified in EMDR and integrates other types of therapy with it. While using EMDR to help resolve unconsciously driven problems in living, as a clinician also trained in Dialectic Behavior Therapy, she teaches her clients skills to help them manage symptoms on a conscious level. She is passionate about helping people resolve their problems in a brief intensive format so they can move forward with living.

Jess resides in the west metro of the Twin Cities with her husband Jeff and their three sons.

Resilient Life Therapy (RLT) offers brief intensive therapy by utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in individual and group therapy settings.

Current life problems (problems in living) can often be a result of unresolved experiences (traumas, adversities, and overwhelming events).  Barriers (such as symptoms, thinking patterns, and unhealthy behaviors) are often a result of faulty conclusions made at earlier times in life.  With that in mind, RLT will help you identify when these faulty conclusions were planted in your life.  Then using a combination of EMDR and somatic work you resolve the core conflict and be able to experience almost immediate results.

In addition to helping people resolve trauma and adversity RLT offers help for those looking to improve function and performance in areas such as athletics, work, and education.  Similar to resolving traumatic events, we will resolve the core issues that are blocking you from reaching your personal goals. So while you may not struggle with overall contentment in living, you may feel stuck in a certain area and RLT can help with that.

The human being is resilient by nature. This approach taps into the resilience we are equipped with to help heal and recover in an intensive brief therapeutic setting so that you can move forward, free from the past and empowered to go after the things that you’ve been created for.

Our Mission

Resilient Life Therapy's mission is to offer group and individual therapy in an intensive brief format, with an emphasis on using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), for the purpose of helping individuals restore and reclaim the life for which they were created.

Our Approach

Current life problems such as mental health symptoms, destructive thinking, emotional pain, and unhealthy behaviors are seen as stemming from unresolved experiences from the past (trauma, adversity, and unresolved events).  You might call these problems “barriers” to your success, happiness, and contentment in life.  Barriers are often a result of faulty conclusions made at earlier times in life.  With that in mind, our mission is to help clients identify when these faulty conclusions were planted in their life.  Then using EMDR we work together to resolve the core conflict, thus eliminating the barriers of present day living.

This therapy is intensive because it is focused on the clinically proven EMDR protocol that is different than talk therapy.  The healing in this therapy is in the process including eye movements, guidance of the therapist, and new insights drawn by you during the process.  It also means that since we have structured our financial policy not to include third party payers (insurance)  you are at liberty to schedule more than one session per week to meet your goals.  It also means that if you prefer to schedule longer than the typical 60-minute session, you have the freedom to do that.

Since EMDR works in an accelerated way this therapy is brief when compared to other types of therapy.  The intensive approach as described above naturally lends itself to a brief therapy.   The work you’ll do in therapy will produce immediate and long lasting results that won't require recurrent supportive sessions on a long-term basis.  Treatment lasts anywhere from eight to twelve weeks (sometimes longer), depending on severity.
